A client from Vancouver recently visited Ralph’s Radio to inquire about upgrading the infotainment system in his 2007 Bentley Continental. Given that the tech in the car was designed a decade and a half ago, he wanted modern smartphone integration that would include Bluetooth hands-free calling, audio streaming options and updated security features. After talking to the client and completing an inspection of the vehicle, we developed an upgrade package that would deliver the features he wanted while maintaining the climate control features in the center console.
Pioneer Multimedia Receiver Upgrade
Our upgrade plan centered around a Pioneer AVIC-W8400NEX multimedia receiver with a 7-inch capacitive touch display. This new radio includes wireless Apple CarPlay smartphone integration so the client can use the voice recognition features of his phone to perform functions like sending a text message, making a phone call, or choosing the music or entertainment source he wants to hear. Another great feature of CarPlay is that it includes access to Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze navigation applications. The client can get turn-by-turn directions to the address or business of his choosing by simply asking for it.
Radio Integration and Safety Upgrade
We added a Rydeen CM-DUO-2 backup camera to the rear of the car to make parking and maneuvering the big sedan easier and safer. The compact camera is mounted just above the license plate and displays an image of everything behind the vehicle as soon as the driver puts the transmission in reverse.
We used an installation and integration solution from Nav-TV to allow the new radio to mount in the dash of the Bentley. The Nav-TV NTV-KIT783 replaces the climate control system that is built into the factory unit with a small LCD screen. The kit also includes an interface that allows the stereo adjustment buttons on the steering wheel to work with the Pioneer radio.
Vancouver’s Mobile Enhancement Specialists
With the new equipment installed and thoroughly tested, it was time for the client to return to Ralph’s Radio in Vancouver to pick up his vehicle. A member of our sales team showed the client how we integrated the new radio into the vehicle and helped him connect his iPhone to the Pioneer system. We finished by reviewing how to use Apple CarPlay and manually select various entertainment sources on the radio. The client was very happy with the upgraded entertainment system.
