When it comes to impressive speaker upgrades for cars and trucks, Ralph’s Radio in Vancouver and Victoria offers the BLAM Live-Series L200P component speakers. This 8-inch speaker set combines high-quality 25-mm soft-dome tweeters, a set of glass-fiber coned woofers and, depending on your application, a pair of passive crossovers. If warm, rich bass performance and detailed high-frequency performance are key to your music enjoyment, you’ll want to check these out.
Design Features of the BLAM L200P
The Live-Series L200P set features woofers based on a cast aluminum basket. The cones are made from a combination of epoxy resin and glass fiber to ensure a rigid design. A long-life butyl rubber surround and Conex spider keep the voice coil assembly centered in the basket. Finally, the woofers feature a 1.5-inch voice coil that’s wrapped around a high-temperature Kapton former. The coil has a nominal impedance of 2 ohms and is rated to handle 100 watts of power.
The tweeter in the L200P set features a 1-inch soft-dome design. A compact yet efficient N38H neodymium magnet ensures excellent efficiency. The tweeters feature an integrated hexagonal mesh grille, and the set includes both flush and angled surface-mounting hardware. If your system design calls for passive crossovers, the L200P set is available with a pair of BFT02 networks that include a second-order -12 dB/octave high-pass filter to protect the tweeter. The networks offer -3, 0 and +3 dB output settings to fine-tune the system for different installations.
