The Escort ZW5 Laser Shifter System
The ZR5 includes a pair of laser ShifterMax sensors, a control module and a wireless interface module. The control module, also called a bridge module, works with up to four ShifterMax sensors to increase your coverage and protection. The connection between the ZW5 and your portable Escort radar detector is handled wirelessly using a high-speed Bluetooth connection. After the installation is complete and the units are paired together, you never have to think about them again. They integrate and work flawlessly to defend against LIDAR and laser speed enforcement guns, including the dreaded DragonEye system in ECCM mode.
How Does the ZR5 System Work?
If the ZR5 ShifterMax transceivers detect a speed measurement signal, they instantly transmit a distorted signal of their own to confuse the LIDAR gun and prevent it from obtaining a speed measurement. Your portable radar detector will alert you to the presence of the police and allow you to slow down to a safe speed. Depending on the radar detector you own, you can either cancel the shifting system, or it will shut down transmission automatically after a few seconds. The officer can take a reading of your vehicle at a legal speed limit and you’ll be able to continue on your way.
