Vancouver and Victoria clients who are looking to add advanced collision avoidance technology to their cars or trucks choose the Mobileye 630 from Ralph’s Radio. Premium trim level and luxury vehicles usually include technologies like lane departure and forward collision warning systems. If your vehicle did not include these features, we can add them for you. Read on to learn how a unique collision warning system provides peace of mind and dramatically increased safety.
What is the Mobileye 630?
This collision avoidance system uses state-of-the-art camera and object recognition technologies to scan the road in front of you continuously. It will identify and warn you about potentially dangerous situations with audible and visual indicators to help you avoid an accident. This camera sensor technology is similar to what Tesla uses in their Model S and Model X vehicles.
The system comprises two visible components: a compact camera module at the top of your windshield and a display screen on your dash. Our installation technicians will ensure that the system calibration is perfect and that we have concealed all the wiring before your vehicle leaves our installation bay.
Lane Departure Warning
Once your vehicle speed is above 65 km/h, the Mobile 630 will monitor the position of your vehicle relative to the lane markings. When the system detects you are leaving your lane without signaling, the display will warn you visually and with a loud tone. The system is intelligent enough to follow road markings around corners for reliable operation.
Forward Collision Warning
The Mobileye system knows how far away the car in front of you is. It will provide constant headway monitoring and display so you can maintain a safe stopping distance. When the system detects you are too close to the vehicle in front of you, it will provide a warning. You will have up to 2.7 seconds to bring your car to a stop to prevent an accident.
Pedestrian and Cyclist Collision Warning
The system tracks the motion of multiple objects as it scans the road in front of you. When traveling at less than 50 km/h during the day, the system will illuminate a small green icon when it detects the presence of a person or cyclist in your “Danger Zone.” You will be provided with a warning up to 2 seconds before the path of the individual or cyclist intersects with the vehicle path.
