Radar Detector and Laser Defense for Vancouver Shelby Mustang GT350

The owner of this pristine 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 recently visited Ralph’s Radio to inquire about a radar detector. One of our solution consultants talked to the customer about where he would be driving the vehicle to develop a clear understanding of the client’s needs. We showed the client our DragonEye lidar gun and explained why a laser defense solution would be his best investment. Once the client understood how the police were targeting vehicles, he opted to go with the Escort MAX CI radar detector and laser defense system.

The connector bridge was securely mounted under the hood.

The laser shifters were mounted behind the grille.

We started the project by removing the front fascia of the vehicle so that we could install the ShifterMax laser transceivers and the radar receiver antenna module. The laser sensors are mounted vertically behind the hexagonal grille, and the radar unit is attached to the steel support structure in the center. As is crucially important with the laser sensors, our team made sure they were aimed perfectly parallel to the ground to ensure proper operation and long-distance detection.

Our technicians mounted the Escort controller within easy reach of the client.

Inside the car, our fabrication team designed and constructed a mounting pod for the display module that fits on top of the rearview mirror. This location keeps the system concealed for a clean and tidy look but remains easy to see when an alert is provided.

The control module for the system is attached to the lower section of the dash just to the right of the steering column. The client didn’t want any permanent modifications made to the interior, so this surface-mount option met his needs for ease of access and aesthetics.

With the control modules concealed under the dash and the wiring run neatly from the sensors in the front of the car, we wrapped up the project by protecting all the cables and securing them in place.
