If you live in the Vancouver or Victoria area and want the most advanced radar and laser defense solution available to protect your vehicle, drop by either Ralph’s Radio location and ask about Stinger. Designed in Europe, Stinger was designed from a clean slate to deliver the best sensitivity and performance possible while providing clients with the most intuitive integrated options available. The Stinger speed trap protection system uses technologies that are unsurpassed by any other brand in the industry.
What Makes Stinger Radar Special?
If you look at conventional radar detectors, they use large horn-style antennae to capture radar signals. The antennae work like a funnel to feed information to the receiver. Digital signal processors filter the noise out of the signal and send information to the control module for analysis.
The Stinger HD+ radar antenna is completely unique. It uses patch array technology to provide excellent sensitivity to radar frequencies and class-leading noise rejection. This is the same technology that modern fighter jets use in their radar tracking systems. Each resonant panel on the antenna is tuned and optimized for the exact X, K and Ka band radar gun signals.
The HD+ antenna’s size – only 11 by 7 centimeters and just 1 cm deep – makes it very easy to conceal behind the bumper cover on your vehicle. In many cases, is the only type of antenna that can be used easily on the back of some cars because of space constraints.
Stinger Fiber Laser Sensors
Conventional laser defense systems use small modules that house the electronics, along with the laser transmitters and receivers. These modules have to be visible from the front or rear of the vehicle in order to detect a lidar signal and transmit the scrambled signal that prevents law enforcement guns from taking a speed measurement.
The Stinger system uses a pair of minuscule fiber optic cables to detect and transmit the laser signals. The heads of the Fiber Laser systems have a diameter of 3 mm, making them almost invisible once installed. Our technicians can mount the fibers in the front grille of your vehicle or flush them into the front fascia. Either way, they are almost invisible. The Laser Center control module allows for up to six receiving fibers and nine transmitting units to ensure that your vehicle is covered front and back.
This level of protection ensures that even DragonEye police laser guns in ECCM mode can be jammed reliably.
The Interface Is Part of the Design
The Stinger Core, Stinger Plus and Stinger Extreme systems come with your choice of the Strip or View interfaces. The Strip is a compact, touch-sensitive pad with three contact areas that provide easy control of the system. We can surface or flush-mount the Strip in your dash or center console, and the multicolored backlighting works with the system speaker under the dash to let you know which police laser and radar signals have been detected.
For clients looking for the ultimate control and information display, we suggest the View touchscreen display. The View is a credit-card sized color display that provides details about the type of radar or laser signal the system is seeing. You can adjust the dozens of system settings from the screen to personalize almost every aspect to your application. Our expert installation technicians can mount the View in an easy-to-see location that provides intuitive access. Custom pods, trim panels or mounting plates are just some of the options available to make this look as though it’s a part of your car or truck, and not an afterthought.
